Please support Direct Relief by purchasing the digital version of The Spicy Gourmet Recipe Book.

As the owner of a small business in California, I’ve had the opportunity to support several nonprofits in the area. None of the nonprofits has impressed me more than Direct Relief, located in Santa Barbara, California. They are an organization that provides relief wherever it is needed most across the globe. I’ve personally had the privilege to meet many of the staff and volunteers of this organization, and from our conversations, it is obvious that they take their responsibility very seriously. These are people who extend their help with committed compassion and respond quickly when a disaster occurs. I consider it a privilege to support their work and to have The Spicy Gourmet Associated with this phenomenal organization.

About Direct Relief

Founded in 1948, Direct Relief is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that provides medical assistance to people around the world affected by poverty, natural disasters, and civil unrest. Direct Relief works with healthcare professionals and organizations on the ground, establishing partnerships with local organizations that provide health services to people who would otherwise not receive them.

Active in all 50 states and in 70 countries, it is the only U.S. non-profit to obtain Verified Accredited Wholesale Distributor (VAWD)© certification by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy.  The organization has been among the world’s largest medical suppliers in the immediate aftermath of international emergencies (including Haiti after the 2010 earthquake, Philippines after Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, and currently in West Africa in response to the Ebola epidemic), and has top charity ratings, including four-star and “top-notch” rating from Charity Navigator, and a 100% fundraising efficiency rating from Forbes magazine. Among other distinctions, Direct Relief was the 2011 winner of the Peter F. Drucker Award for Nonprofit Innovation and received the 2013 President’s Award from Esri.
